Find your mask size

Use the AirTouch F30i Comfort mask fitting guide to see which cushion and frame size fits your patient the best.

Find your cushion size

  1. There are 3 cushion sizes available: Small-wide, Medium, and Large. The cushion size is indicated on the bottom of the cushion.
  2. In front of a mirror, place the fitting template under the patient’s nose. Position their nose above the blue Medium cushion box and check if their nose fits into the box. Repeat the process with the purple Small-Wide and grey Large cushion boxes. The Small-Wide and Large size cushions suit wider noses, and the Medium size cushion suits narrower noses.
  3. Choose the cushion size with the best fit for their nose width. The cushion should feel secure and comfortable.

Find your frame size

  1. There are 3 frame sizes available: Small, Standard, and Large. The frame size can be found on the frame.
  2. The straps should not be overtightened as to cause skin discomfort. The mask should fit comfortably and securely.
  3. If the mask falls forward on their head or sits too close to their eyes, try a larger size. If the mask frame falls back over their head or sits too close to their ears, try a smaller size.

Fit your mask

Help patients fit their mask with these steps:

  1. Connect the air tubing from the device to the elbow.
  2. Squeeze the side buttons on the elbow and pull from the frame. Leave the elbow and air tubing aside for now.
  3. Twist and pull both magnetic clips away from the frame magnets.
  4. With the Resmed logo on the headgear facing up, pull the headgear and frame over their head.
  5. Place the cushion under their nose to ensure it sits comfortably against the face.
  6. Bring the lower headgear straps under their ears and attach the magnetic clips to the frame magnets.
  7. Undo the fastening tabs on the upper headgear straps and pull evenly, then repeat with the lower headgear straps.
  8. Attach the elbow to the top of the frame. The mask should now be positioned as shown.

Mask seal and comfort

To help ensure therapy effectiveness, it is important to have a proper seal between the mask and face. If your patients are experiencing any mask leaks, follow these steps to help them find a strong seal.

  1. On the patient’s Resmed device, choose “My Options.” Scroll down to “Mask Setting” and ensure “Full Face” is selected.
  2. With the device turned on and blowing air, adjust the position of the cushion for the most comfortable fit under their nose. Ensure that the cushion is not creased and the headgear is not twisted.
  3. Don’t overtighten the headgear straps. Readjust the tension of the headgear, starting with the upper headgear straps. Then, do the same for the lower headgear straps.
  4. The cushion should not push their nose up excessively. The cushion should sit comfortably and securely under their nose.
  5. To fix leaks around the nose, adjust the upper headgear straps. To fix leaks around the cheek or chin, adjust the lower headgear straps.

Clean and care for your mask

Before patients clean their mask, they'll need to disassemble it. Follow the instructions below to helps patients disassemble their masks:

Disassemble your mask

  1. Undo the fastening tabs on the upper headgear straps and pull the headgear from the frame. Keep the magnetic clips attached to the lower headgear straps. After detaching the headgear, close the fastening tabs to prevent them from damaging the fabric sleeves when handling.
  2. Squeeze the side buttons on the elbow and detach from the frame.
  3. Grip the frame connector and lift to unclip the frame from the cushion. Repeat on the other side.
  4. Now that you've disassembled the mask, it’s ready for cleaning.

Daily cleaning

The cushion, including the QuietAir™ diffused venting, should be cleaned daily.  Patients should follow the instructions below on how to clean their mask daily:

  1. Soak the cushion in warm water with a mild liquid detergent.
  2. Hand wash only. There is no need to use a brush.
  3. Thoroughly rinse the cushion under running water. Make sure the vent holes are clean and clear. If the cushion is not visibly clean, repeat the cleaning steps.
  4. Squeeze the fabric cushion with a clean towel to remove excess water.
  5. Leave it to air dry, out of direct sunlight.

Weekly cleaning

The headgear, frame and elbow should be cleaned weekly. Instructions for patients are below:

  1. Soak the components in warm water with a mild liquid detergent.
  2. Handwash the components with a soft bristle brush. Pay particular attention to the vent holes in the elbow.
  3. Thoroughly rinse the components under running water. If the sleeve on the frame becomes twisted, it can be repositioned when wet.
  4. Squeeze the headgear and the fabric frame with a clean towel to remove excess water. Make sure the anti-asphyxia valves are clean and clear. If the mask components are not visibly clean, repeat the cleaning steps.
  5. Leave them to air dry, out of direct sunlight.

Reassemble your mask

Help patients reassemble their mask with the following steps:

  1. If the elbow ring detaches, insert it into the top of the frame. If the quiet air vent detaches, insert it into the cushion.
  2. Align and insert the frame connector tab into the cushion slot. Press down until the frame connector clicks in place. Repeat on the other side.
  3. Attach the elbow to the top of the frame. You should hear a click when it's securely attached.
  4. With the Resmed logo facing outwards and up, insert the upper headgear straps into the frame from the inside and fold the fastening tabs over to secure.
  5. Now your mask is fully reassembled and ready for you to use again.
