Rest Up this spring with ResMed


We challenge you to reawaken your best

Like the dew of a new day or sunrise of a new year, your body and mind are programmed by evolution to sense the awakening spring air. Spring is the season to bring renewal and rejuvenation to your body. And the best way to do that is with healthy sleep. 

Most people are aware that sleep offers several benefits like increased energy, a clearer mind and a stronger immune system.1 Still, more than 4 in 10 of us are not getting enough sleep2, and 5 in 10 have trouble sleeping 3 or more nights a week.2 That may not seem like a big deal, but it means millions of us are driving tired, being less productive and living like a zombie. Let's fix that.

What's Rest Up about?

Starting on August 24 until the end of September, ResMed is calling all Australians to join us in our inaugural Rest Up challenge. The idea is to get your rest up by adopting healthier sleep habits. It could be as simple as making a commitment to turn off electronics before bed, getting to bed earlier, or avoiding caffeine late in the day.

We know that embarking on monthly challenges like 'Dry July' or 'Movember' can motivate people. We're aiming to do the same by turning every September into 'Sleeptember'. The hope is that the short-term changes you make will build behaviours that become long-lasting improvements. 

To help us make Rest Up a big deal, we've teamed with Nova and smoothfm radio in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to run a range of activities you can join in over the next 6 weeks. Below are some of the things we'll be doing.

14-day Sleep Challenge

If a 6-week commitment is a bit daunting, then start with the shorter 14-day Sleep Challenge beginning on August 31. All that matters is that you make a start. Oh, did we mention that each day we'll be guiding you with sleep tips and giving away daily prizes? All participants will go in the draw to win 1 of 3 bedroom makeovers too.

Lullaby Lottery

What could be more restful right now than a quick local escape? If you're feeling stuck at home and keen to get away, all you need to do is tune in to Fitzy and Wippa on Nova during their Lullaby Lottery mornings. They'll be giving lucky Sydney listeners a luxury getaway every day for a week. There's no excuse not to start resting up now, though.


smooth's Big Sleep-in 

To make the transition from winter to spring a bit easier, curl up and stay in bed for smooth's Big Sleep-in on August 29, the last Saturday of Winter. They'll be playing some relaxing morning tunes to keep you cosy, helping you get your rest up before tackling your Sleeptember and spring goals in earnest.

Other highlights

As always, we'll be doing all we can to help you get the 7-9 hours sleep most adults need every night. Each week, we'll be creating new sleep health content for you to keep engaged, including a Twitter sleep diary from one of our own staff who is joining the challenge. For their sake and ours, we're praying that healthier sleep will make them less stressed!

We'll also be offering exclusive deals on all sleep heath products and home sleep tests for everyone who completes a free sleep assessment. If you've wanted to try any of them before, now's the perfect time to take a look.

Get ready to Rest Up

With two-thirds of the year gone, we bet there's a health goal you haven't quite fulfilled. Do yourself a kindness and give yourself a refreshing start to spring with better sleep. It seems like a simple thing, but you'll be surprised at how much better it feels to have plenty of sleep clocked up.

It's easy as well. You can start with going to bed 15 minutes earlier than usual, leaving your phone out of the bedroom or using a sleep aid like a weighted blanket. So, with nature beginning to blossom and the spring sun sweeping in, it's now or never to get your rest up to reawaken your best.
